Our Team Goals

Logo Cog Huntington Express Patch Logo
  • 1 More Kids on Bikes
  • 2 Have FUN!
  • 3 Ride & Race Safely
  • 4 Enjoy Outdoors
  • 5 Teamwork
  • 6 Lifelong Skills

Our team goals are simple: have fun, ride and race safely, and include and value every rider. Our trained coaches are squarely focused on creating a team culture that is welcoming, safe, and fun. We strive to teach riders that mountain biking is a lifelong activity for good health, to develop a connection to the outdoors and to enjoy nature with their families and friends.

Although the students are learning skills and gaining fitness. Our coaches are most focused on teaching students how to respect each other, themselves, the environment, their trails and their communities. Our athletes learn skills like changing flats and how and why to carry appropriate gear and tools. We emphasize teamwork and creating stronger and more confident student-athletes both on and off the bike.

This is a unique high school and middle school team environment. There are no cuts; everyone rides and contributes to the team no matter his or her ability level.

GRiT Group Ride

GRiT (Girls Riding Together) is NICA's focused effort to bring more girls and women into the cycling community. NICA aims to increase female student-athlete and coach participation rates in our teams.

2021 Teen Trail Corps award winners!

Teen Trail Corps is NICA's program designed to provide opportunities for our student-athletes and their families including, but not limited to, trail workdays, writing to officials about cycling concerns, sharing their mountain bike experiences, and advocating for their local trails.

Moonrocks, Davis WV

Adventure is NICA's program that allows our student-athletes to experience the benefits of mountain biking, camaraderie, community, and the outdoors. They will learn new skills as part of a team of like-minded people through fun outdoor experiences.
